Tusk v1.0.0 Release Notes
Welcome to the first official release of Tusk — a smarter way to back up your video footage on macOS. This release brings cloud backup support, smarter camera detection, and a more reliable backup engine under the hood.
---
✨ Features
Dropbox backup destination — Connect your Dropbox account via OAuth and use it as a cloud backup destination, with verified transfers and saved credentials.
Camera media detection — When you plug in an SD card or camera volume, Tusk will prompt you to offload footage automatically. Plain SSDs and USB drives won't trigger the prompt.
Empty folder syncing — Project folder structures are now mirrored to local and Google Drive destinations, keeping your working directory in sync — even when folders are empty.
---
🐛 Fixes
Google Drive — Fixed duplicate project folders caused by creation races, corrected folder nesting under the project root, recovered stale file IDs, and resolved issues with files left in the trash.
Backup drive disconnection — Tusk no longer shows false "folder missing" errors or spins up unnecessary backup jobs when a drive is unplugged mid-session.
Spurious operations — Fixed unwanted verify and redistribute steps being triggered after ingest, rename, and restore actions.
Stability — Resolved a crash that could occur when update or notification events fired after the main window had already closed.
---
🔧 Improvements
Faster startup — License verification now happens in the background, so the app is ready immediately instead of waiting on a network check.
Cleaner settings — The "Backup with Tusk" Finder option is now a toggle, consistent with the rest of General Settings.
Update safety — Users on beta builds will no longer be auto-updated across a major version boundary. Instead, you'll see a one-time notification linking to these release notes.
Dropbox permissions — Updated Dropbox scopes to ensure reliable access for backup and restore operations.
