Tusk v1.1.0 Release Notes

This release is a major step forward for anyone working with large video projects. Tusk now handles big libraries far more reliably, backs up files faster using background workers, and gives you clearer, more honest feedback throughout the process. A handful of stability fixes round things out.

---

✨ New Features

  • Large project support — Tusk can now handle big video libraries without slowing down or running out of memory. Projects are scanned and indexed incrementally so startup stays snappy no matter how many files you have.

  • 100,000-file cap with clear messaging — If a project approaches the 100k file limit, Tusk now tells you plainly and suggests splitting it into smaller projects before you hit a wall.

  • Background transfer worker — File copying and verification (BLAKE3 integrity checks) now run in a separate background process, keeping the app responsive while heavy work happens behind the scenes.

  • Activity badge — A new badge gives you an at-a-glance view of active backup progress without needing to dig into the details panel.

---

🛠 Fixes

  • Stranded jobs no longer get stuck — Work units that previously stalled in certain edge cases are now automatically recovered and re-queued.

  • Accurate progress reporting — Progress for ongoing transfers now reflects what's actually happening, not an outdated or estimated state.

  • Memory crash on large projects fixed — The app no longer runs out of memory when rendering status for very large project libraries.

  • Duplicate project links handled correctly — Adding a project that was already linked no longer causes unexpected behaviour.

---

📈 Improvements

  • Smarter backup scheduling — Tusk now checks your battery level and cloud sync status before running verification passes, so background work doesn't drain your battery or fight with iCloud.

  • More efficient file watching — Switched to a better file-watching engine that uses far fewer system resources, regardless of project size.

  • Per-destination retry backoff — If a backup destination has repeated issues, Tusk backs off gracefully instead of hammering it with retries.

  • Friendlier in-app copy — Guidance messages throughout the app have been rewritten to be clearer and more consistent with Tusk's tone.
