Tusk v1.2.0 Release Notes
This release brings a major new way to bring your existing video drives into Tusk, along with a smoother import experience and under-the-hood reliability improvements.
---
✨ New Features
Drive Import Wizard — Got an existing hard drive full of videos? Tusk can now scan it, match your footage, and organize everything into your library without duplicating files unnecessarily.
"Track an Existing Drive" flow — Point Tusk at a drive you've been using for years and let it adopt your folder structure as projects automatically.
Smart duplicate detection — Files are fingerprinted before import, so Tusk won't create redundant copies of footage you already have backed up.
Staging sessions — The import wizard now walks you through changes in a reviewable staging step before anything is moved or modified, so you stay in control.
Celebratory "All set" screen — A satisfying confirmation screen appears after a successful organize, so you always know when the job is done.
---
🛠 Fixes
Overlap protection — Guards added to prevent two import operations from colliding if triggered in quick succession.
Trash instead of delete — Redundant copies caught during import are now moved to the Trash rather than permanently removed, giving you a safety net.
Organize confirmation step — Tusk now asks for explicit confirmation before finalizing any folder reorganization during import.
---
⚡ Improvements
Faster drive scanning — Import scans use a smarter rollup cache, so large drives index more quickly on repeat visits.
Session replay for support — Tusk now collects optional, privacy-masked session replays to help the team spot and fix UX issues faster. No video content is ever captured.
Onboarding analytics — Anonymized funnel tracking helps us understand where first-time setup can be improved. As always, no personal data leaves your machine.
